WizDaWizard, a rising rapper and an affiliate of Kodak Black’s Sniper Gang label, was found dead in Hallandale Beach, Florida, on Friday, September 17, 2021. The Discovery of the Body
According to Local 10 News, a man walking his dog discovered the body of WizDaWizard, whose real name is Wisdom Williams, around 6 a.m. ET on Friday in the front yard of a home near Northwest 6th Terrace and 10th street. The home had been vacant for nearly seven months and there were no signs of a struggle or gunshots in the area. Police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the individual was deceased.
The Suspected Foul Play
Hallandale Beach Police Capt. Megan Jones said that there were “unusual circumstances” surrounding the death and that foul play was suspected. She did not reveal the cause of death or any details about the injuries on the body. However, some reports claimed that WizDaWizard was shot to death and chopped up into pieces. These claims have not been verified by the authorities and could be based on rumors or speculation.
The Reaction from Kodak Black and Others
WizDaWizard was signed to Kodak Black’s Sniper Gang label and had collaborated with him on songs like “Righteous Reapers” and “Haitian Boy Kodak”. He had also worked with other artists like Jackboy, EST Gee, and YNW Melly. He was known for songs like “Don Dada’s”, “What’s Da Jwett”, and “KTB”.
Kodak Black, who was in Florida to receive a certificate of recognition from the City of Margate for his $20,000 donation toward the college funds of the children of a South Florida police officer who died from COVID-19 and two slain FBI agents, referenced WizDaWizard’s death during his acceptance speech. “And I just lost a friend, a very close friend,” he said. “We’ve been friends like over 10 years and I lost him yesterday. He got a beautiful baby girl, too. It’s crazy dealing with losing loved ones and stuff like that, it’s hard. I’ve been dealing with loss my whole life. My cousin’s funeral was yesterday, too.”
Other friends and associates of WizDaWizard also paid tribute to him on social media. Hip-hop photographer Dill35mm wrote on Instagram, “Damn Wiz, we had big plans… Rest In Peace A Florida Legend.” Music engineer Scrilla revealed that he worked with WizDaWizard the night before his death and they were scheduled to work on music the following day. He wrote, “WOKE UP TO SOME HORRIBLE NEWS. ME THIS BROTHER SPOKE LAST NIGHT. LOCKED IN A SESSION. WENT TO THE STUDIO. WAITED FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS. USUALLY HE NEVER HITS ME WITH A NO CALL NO SHOW. ITS ALWAYS A ‘YO SCRILLA IM ON THE WAY’ OR ‘NA BRO I AINT MAKIN IT TONIGHT’ BUT NEITHER HAPPENED. WE WAS JUST GOING BACK AND FORTH ABOUT HOW AND WHEN WE WERE GOING TO RELEASE THIS BODY OF WORK WE’VE BEEN CRAFTING.”
The Ongoing Investigation
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the case and no suspects have been named. Police are still investigating whether the body was moved to the area where it was found or if it was killed there.
