SYNOPSIS
Based in the Regency era in England, this period drama follows the lives of the 8 Bridgerton siblings and their attempts to find love and make a place for themselves in the highly patriarchal and judgemental society of that time.
A fun fact to note is that the Bridgerton siblings are named in alphabetical order! (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth.)
The first season focused mainly on Daphne and her husband Simon (played by Phoebe Dynevor and Rege-Jean Page respectively) and was based on the book “The Duke and I” by Julia Quinn. The second season is expected to focus on the eldest sibling, Anthony Bridgerton, same as the second book in the series, “The Viscount Who Loved Me”.
WHAT’S NEW IN SEASON 2?
It is time to bid adieu to Simon Basset! Along with the renewal announcement, Netflix and Shondaland also revealed that Rege-Jean Page will not be returning for Bridgerton season 2, via a notice by Lady Whistledown. Although the news of the duke’s departure shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise since the second season won’t focus too much on them, fans were heartbroken to know that they won’t get to see a little more of the steamy romance between Daphne and Simon and also their lives as new parents, which came as a huge plot twist at the end of season 1.
Bridgerton Season 2 will focus on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as he goes on a quest to find himself a Viscountess after things did not work out with Sienna.
Bridgerton star, Nicola Coughlan teased that season 2 is going to be “extremely dramatic”. Who doesn’t love some drama?
SEASON 2 CAST MEMBERS
Bridgerton season 2 will be adding some brand new cast members to the very talented current bunch. Netflix revealed that Simone Ashley will be joining them in the role of Kate Sharma, Anthony’s extremely headstrong love interest.
Phoebe Dynevor will also be making a comeback but will take the backseat this season.
BRIDGERTON SEASON 2 RELEASE DATE
An official release date has not been announced as yet, but it is expected that we won’t be getting a new season until 2022. Nobody wants to wait that long, but as the saying goes, good things take time!
