Sanditon Season 3 Release Date 2022 Updates and Where to Watch

Thank God we will get the answers for the cliffhangers left by the second season of the superhit period drama, Sanditon. The show has faced terrible ups and downs, even reaching the stage of almost getting canceled. The show is based on an unfinished novel by the same name written by Jane Austen back in 1817. She left the novel after completing eleven chapters due to her illness. The first season was facing issues in finding an audience on its British broadcast but it gathered a huge fan base in the USA which led to its surprise renewal in the month of May 2021. In this article, we shall discuss Sanditon Season 3.

Season 2 completed its airing a few months back on 24 April. The ending showed Charlotte announcing her engagement to a completely new man in the plot and this romantic conflict is going to cover up the upcoming season. Here is everything available about Sanditon Season 3 including its possible release time.

Sanditon Season 3

Sanditon Left us a Major Cliffhanger This Year with Season 2

Sanditon Season 2 started after Sidney Parker decided to marry Eliza Champion to save the Sanditon project and his brother’s fortune. But Sidney passes away after returning to Antigua due to yellow fever, which shatters Charlotte. Charlotte decides to seek employment and become independent after Sidney‘s death but crosses paths with Alexander Colbourne whose ward she has to govern. Meanwhile, Charlotte learns that Leo is the child of Lennox and Colbourne’s wife. Georgiana knows about her mother who was a slave under her father on their sugar plantation. Now she must digest her past and find her place in this world.

Allison finally moves over Carter’s betrayal and develops feelings for Captain Fraser. Esther suffers from Laudanum poisoning and Edward wants her to die as she is close to Lady Denham. The final episode was too dark and it was revealed that Edward was poisoning Esther and this message was delivered to Lady Denham by Clara. Charlotte and Colebourne have a passionate kiss and Leo also learns about her actual father, Lennox. In the end, Charlotte brings an entirely new man to get married and the cliffhanger was Colbourne and his ward set off to an undisclosed location for an unpredictable amount of time.

Amazing Actors of This Period-Drama!

The story of Sanditon was originally created as a novel by Jane Austen in 1817. Jane fell to illness and left the novel unfinished by mid-1817 and her unfinished manuscript has recently been adapted for a television series by the same name. Produced by Red Planet Pictures, Sanditon has witnessed two seasons as of now with a total of 14 episodes. Season three is expected to add six more episodes to the total. This series was first broadcasted on ITV in the United Kingdom in August 2019 and in January 2020, PBS aired the show in the United States as a part of its Masterpiece anthology.

The second and third seasons for this series were renewed in May 2021 with a collaboration between PBS and Britbox whereas ITV acquired the rights for linear broadcast. Apart from the production house, details of the other production team members are not publicly known. The extremely talented cast of Sanditon includes:

  • Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood
  • Kate Ashfield as Mary Parker
  • Crystal Clarke as Georgiana Lambe
  • Turlough Convery as Arthur Parker
  • Jack Fox as Sir Edward Denham
  • Kris Marshall as Tom Parker
  • Anne Reid as Lady Denham
  • Lily Sacofsky as Clara Brereton
  • Theo James as Sidney Parker
  • Elizabeth Berrington as Mrs. Griffiths
  • Maxim Ays as Captain William Carter

What Will Sanditon Season 3 Bring?

Both the seasons have been tragic for Georgiana where she lost both of her parents along with her guardian, Sidney, and two loves before turning 21. Her first love, Otis made her experience being kidnapped and now she will be seen on a quest to find out where her mother is and her actual identity. She wishes to know where in the world she stands and how she has to define herself. Actually, Justin Young’s chat with Salon revealed that her mother was a slave on her father’s sugar plantation and is possibly still alive.

She suffered a bit of trauma after knowing the fact that she is the daughter of a slave and slave owner. She almost fell for the artist Charles Lockhart, who was actually a relative of her father’s who claimed rightful ownership of her inheritance. Charlotte gets back on track too after having her new love, Colbourne by her side. As it is going to be the last season, Charlotte’s love story and personal life will be brought to a satisfactory end in Sanditon Season 3. We actually saw the beginning, interval, and ending of Charlotte’s phase from nothing to having a definition of her life in the world.

Release Date & Episode Schedule of Sanditon Season 3

The period drama series has started gaining momentum on the small screens and the best news is that Sanditon Season 3 has already been filmed and fans don’t have to wait much longer for the series to complete its production and release finally. Seasons two and three were renewed at the same time while being shot back to back between the months of July and December 2021. The season may air on an episode-by-episode basis.

We may not witness Sanditon Season 3 to release this year as it may take some months in the production phase. Season 3 is expected to release in early 2023 at Britbox UK and PBS Masterpiece in the USA. Sanditon Season 3 was announced to be the finale of this series and is expected to provide us with six episodes, similar to its previous season. It feels sad to think how Jane died without bringing the end of this story and we will be seeing a finale that is definitely not the one that may have been given by Jane back in 1817. We will update you with the release schedule of Sanditon Season 3 as soon as it comes out.
