The makers of Made In Abyss animated series are testing the excitement and patience of fans since the release of its first season. After debuting in July of 2017, the showrunners took almost 5 years to premiere Made In Abyss Season 2. The fourth episode of the second season has aired recently on 27th July 2022. As soon as this season began, fans are having several doubts and fears regarding renewal for Made In Abyss Season 3 and the time it will take.
Also known as Meido in Abisu, it is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. Made In Abyss also garnered the title of “Anime of the Year” and “Best Score” at the 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2018. The plot is centralized over a young girl named Riko who crosses paths with a humanoid robot and ends up befriending him. The duo descends into the titular Abyss to help Riko find her mother.
The show has an impressive 8.3/10 IMDb rating and is rumored to be in talks for Season three which is expected to release anytime in 2023. After waiting for five years, it seems fans do not have to wait for this much for this adventurous story to return. What is This Adventurous Dark Fantasy About?
Riko is an orphaned girl who lives in the Belchero Orphanage in the town of Orth. The town is surrounded by an Abyss, a strange, giant hole descending deep into the earth. It holds potential value due to the artifacts and remnants of civilization from the long-lost history and attracts several Cave Raiders who descend down the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find.
The Abyss is manifested with “the Curse of the Abyss” making the returning task difficult and the effects of the curse are told by some returning Cave Raiders. The legendary ones earn the title of White Whistles and Lyza, Riko’s mother is one of them. She is presumed dead after her “last descent” into the Abyss. Riko still wishes to search deep down there for her mother and become a White Whistle like her.
One day, she finds a robot resembling a human boy in the first layer of the Abyss who is later named Reg. Reg is shifted to Belchero and is quickly accepted by Riko and her friends. After some time, Lyza’s White Whistle and some of her findings and discoveries are recovered from the depths of the Abyss. A message for Riko was also found stating Lyza is waiting for her at the bottom. Riko takes Reg as her companion and embarks on the journey of finding her mother secretively.

Director Masayuki Kojima has brought the animated series Made In Abyss adapted from the Japanese manga series by the same name written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi. The animation is done by Kinema Citrus and released in the first season of this series in July 2017. The first season consisted of 14 episodes while Made In Abyss Season 2 is currently running with 4 episodes released right now.
