The protagonist of the series, Shemar Moore came out to declare that the series has been officially given a green light to return to the screen with a renewed, SWAT Season 6.

Shemar used Instagram as the means of clearing all the confusion prevailing in the audiences’ minds. He informed his 4 Million family on Instagram that they should expect a “kicking-ass” SWAT Season 6 to be released on their screens so soon in the future. He wrote:

“Aaaayyeeeee!!!! Homies, Fans, n Baby Girls!!!!! You heard it here first!!!!” @swatcbs is renewed for SEASON 6 !!!!!! Another year of Kicking Ass coming your way… ROLL SWAT BABY.”

Also, the sixth season was announced by CBS also on 8th April 2022.

SWAT celebrated its Hundredth episode, which has the title, “The Fugitive”. The episode featured bodycam footage broadcast by a local news station which probably showed Hondo shooting two police officers.

Release Date of the upcoming Season 6

The first episode of season 5 of SWAT aired in October 2021 and has run thoroughly regularly but with brief breaks in the months of December 2021 and January 2021. The climax of the season ended in a technically explosive manner.

There was no exact news about SWAT Season 6 during the writing of the script of Season 5. However, the Sixth season will be following the pattern of the previous seasons and will be broadcast on 7th October 2022. Season 6 will be the second show to be telecast on Fridays instead of Sundays and at the time 8.00 PM instead of 10.00 PM.

Cast and Characters of Season 6

Except for Lina Esco, all the old cast would be returning for SWAT Season 6. So we have to get convinced, that Lina Esco’s time is over on the show. Aside from Lina Esco, the following cast members will be returning for SWAT Season 6:

  • Shemar Moore as Sergeant Daniel Hondo
  • Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca
  • Alex Russell as Officer III Jim Street
  • Jay Harrington as Deacon Kay
  • David Lim as Officer III Victor Tan
  • Stephanie Sigman as Jessica Cortez
  • Patrick St. Espirit as Robert Hicks
  • Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle
  • Peter Onorati
  • Amy Farrington

However, we are very sad that Lina Esco is not going to return in SWAT Season 6. She played the character of the sniper of the team, Christine “Chris” Alonso. She has been a part of the main cast members since 2019. She took to social media for declaring her decision of leaving the show by saying:

“One of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make.”

So it is very much clear now that Lina Esco is leaving the show and will not be coming back for her role. So, we will miss her.

Expected Plot of Season 6

The final episode of Season 5 was full of shock, drama, and action. The episode’s title was farewell and several events happened at the end of season 5. So we are expecting much more drama from SWAT Season 6.
