Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a police procedural drama, involving a team of detectives who solve crime in Brooklyn, New York City. The show has been massively popular in the sitcom genre and has attracted many popular platforms to buy the show’s rights. The show was initially telecasted on Fox but later shifted to NBC. Even the OTT giant, Netflix had bought the rights of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and all the seasons were available there except for season eight. This is because season 8 was aired on NBC and its rights are not still not shared with Netflix. Since its last season was released in September 2021, fans are craving any news about the return of their favorite detectives with Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 9.
The first season of the show was released on 17 September 2013 and until 2021, the show has released eight seasons full of comedy, drama, and funniest cases. It is one of those sitcom dramas that have received highly positive acclaim from critics. The show has received several awards and is recognized for portraying serious issues along with retaining humor so that the audience gets the taste of everything and acknowledges the hard times too.
Ending of Season 8
The show revolves around detective Jake Peralta of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in the Brooklyn 99th Precinct. The detective always falls prey to trouble with his commanding officer Captain Raymond Holt. The series intact the funny and humorous moments between these two and the whole team of Brooklyn 99 solving crimes in the funniest way possible.
The show’s ending can be emotional to its oldest fans. Amy’s new department position made her parenting schedule more difficult. Jack, on the other hand, decides to quit his job to be a full-time father while Terry is appointed the new Captain of the 99th Precinct. By the end, we see all of these characters quitting but deciding to continue their Halloween Heists even though their life is going through dramatic changes.
These changing situations in the last season even made some fans feel bad for their favorite characters and beforehand, they expected the end of the show forever. Until the final scenes, the show was able to deliver a sweet message. Even after everyone left the place, the story didn’t end.
A year later, Jack returns to keep his Halloween Heist tradition going. Along with him, Amy, Holt, Rosa, and Gina also arrive. Then Jack says, “they are in each other’s lives, forever”. Isn’t that sweet and emotional at the same time? Some people enter the deepest corners of your heart only to leave you, never.

Season 9: Renewal Status
Unfortunately, there are no plans for the renewal of Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 9 and the famous sitcom drama has come to an end after eight seasons, giving us the funniest of adventures with its fresh storyline, humor, and relatable characters. The show was able to stay miles above people’s expectations and always made them crave for more of it. Season 8 whose last episode aired in September 2021, is the last season of the show.
Makers are not going to renew Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 9 and perhaps makers had this thought in their mind because they had added everything in season eight including events like the entire COVID-19 situation, topics like Black Lives Matter, and plenty of characters had retired during the runtime of the show. The makers believe this was the right time to end the show and maintain its legacy too.
Netflix is considered the game-changer of TV shows and is also the right owner of Brooklyn 99 but unfortunately, its last season is still not available on Netflix as NBC has rights to season eight. Along with NBC, FuboTV and SlingTV also own the rights while Netflix is yet to achieve one. There are chances of the renewal of Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 9 if Netflix shows mercy on the show‘s fandom.
Once Netflix gets the right of season eight and it comes out to be a hit for the platform, Netflix may try to renew the series for Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 9 and check the audience response. Obviously, it is one of the most favorite shows that has been loved by a wide range of audiences worldwide.
So we never know if the series may return or not, but it surely has been able to leave its impression on the hearts of the people.
