Venom 3 Release Date, Plot and Latest Production Updates

The most iconic villain of Spider-Man, Venom finally got his own solo movie in 2018 by Sony Pictures. It followed a sequel in 2021 and the Tom Hardy-led franchise has a huge fanbase along with many detractors too. Many have questioned its reasons for existing, calling into interrogation the logic of making a movie on Venom without the involvement of Spider-Man. In this article, we shall discuss Venom 3.

Hardy was noticed for taking a more involved role in the sequel as he arranged to take the ownership further and re-define the symbiote-powered antagonist. He even took responsibility for the production of the second movie. Both the movies proved very profitable for Sony and thus, it should be coming as no surprise that the studio has begun the development of a third movie too.

Venom movies’ Plot till now

In the first movie of Marvel’s anti-hero franchise, the main character, Eddie Brock relinquished his job as an Investigative journalist after trying to malign the tech mogul, Carlton Drake. The nefarious experiments of Drake with symbiotes result in Brock and Venom’s encounter. Venom is an outer-space organism that needs a human host for survival.

Both of them work as a pair together in a bid for taking down Drake for his criminal acts. In these processes, they learn that they are more alike than they thought. After the work gets done and the dust is cleared, Brock visits serial killer Cletus Kassidy in the jail, which he regrets later.

In the second movie that is Venom: Let There Carnage, the story revolves shortly around the after-events of Venom, of course. We see that Eddie Brock is still in connection with Cletus Kassidy who gives Brock many newsworthy features to write about his crimes. However, Kassidy later tries to attack Brock and prompts Venom to protect him.

Will there be a Venom 3?

The Venom fans should be rejoicing because there will be indeed a third movie in the Venom Franchise. This is not from some unknown source or website randomly on the internet but from Tom Hardy himself. Hardy on his Instagram page updated that Venom 3 is in the works. His post showed the franchise been scribed by Kelly Marcel who has returned to pen down the script.

This means that like in the second movie, Hardy has given his own input in this story too. It was earlier told by Hardy to Digital Spy that:

“These things [usually] come in threes. If there’s going to be a new one – and they depend heavily on the success of each individual one, so you can’t count on them ever happening again – every one has got to be as if it was the last one. But I think it’s really important, if you go into something, thinking that one, two and three are the same… the same story, the same film. So that you don’t surprise yourself by being caught out by suddenly having to do a third from nowhere. There’s got to be some continuity into a third and fourth and fifth, and if somebody says ‘no’, that’s fine. Let it go, and you move on to something else.”

Is there a release date for Venom 3?

Unfortunately, there is no confirmed date of release for Venom 3 at the time of writing. As we told above, the sequel is currently being written, with no indication of when it will be entering production.

As per speculations, it is not likely that Venom 3 will be arriving sooner. It might come into cinemas by October 2024 if we see the records of the release of the previous two movies of the franchise. So we have to wait for 2024 for the release.

What will be Venom 3 about?

Many are assuming and wanting that the events in Venom 3 will be based upon the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It might be true. The director of Venom, Andy Serkis, said in an interview with Screen Rant that:

“I know everyone is desperate for Venom to meet Spider-Man. I know that. But I think there’s a real mileage in some of the other supervillains that reside in Ravencroft. There’s such fertile ground to be uncovered there. That would be the sandbox I’d be really interested in playing in. Who’s lurking in there that could break out?”
