There are a total of 17 light novels and 15 manga volumes published in Japan as of June 2022 and we can expect some thrilling storylines for this season.
The fantasy comedy belongs to the isekai genre where the lead character enters a mysterious world full of fantasies and has to discover his own ways to survive there. Its prequel novel, Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! has also been announced for a television anime adaptation. The Talented Voices Behind Konosuba Characters!
The Japanese light novel series is written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima. Drive has been introduced as the new studio for Konosuba Season 3 whereas Takaomi Kanasaki is returning to the position of Chief Director this time. Yujiro Abe will be directing the story and the character design is done by our favorite Koichi Kikuta. This same team is going to work on Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! which is a prequel manga series to this story.
The credits for the series composition go to Makoto Uezu. Further going, details about the cast are not revealed but the returning cast includes:

Cliffhangers Left by Season 2 Will Be Answered in Konosuba Season 3
Konosuba Season 2 aired from January 11 to March 16, 2017. In 2019, Crunchyroll announced the English dub of this series which came out in February 2020. After five years, Konosuba is returning with season three, and here’s a recap of the plot of season two. The second season witnessed more comedy focus than the previous one.
The team generally gets a request from the Guild and they go complete the task where things turn ugly because of some team member’s incompetency. But Kazuma is quick at thinking, some claim that he is supported by his dumb luck and mere circumstances but he rescues the team every time. Every arc was covered in about two episodes. After entering the new world, Kazuma was instructed by Aqua to defeat the Demon king and choose any weapon for his aide. In the worst of his luck, Kazuma chooses Aqua and regrets his decision since then. The pair now has to earn enough money to sustain themselves there and more problematic adventures join their journey.
The idiotic tendencies of this duo generally bring trouble in whatever they have planned. The goddess Aqua was being treated as a normal citizen and this makes her reveal her identity as a Goddess. She was working on purifying the poisoned Hot Spring water but the citizens instead of believing her, think of her as a part of the Devil king’s army and launch a witch hunt against her. After escaping this angry mob, the team discovered that the town’s water is being poisoned by one of the Devil king’s Army leaders, Hans, the Deadly Poison Slime, and Wiz steps in to face Hans.
Aqua keeps on attempting to purify the source of water. Thankfully, the bodies that haven’t been digested fully can be resurrected and our hero Kazuma lets himself get eaten by Hans so that Megumin and Wiz can get an upper hand in bringing down his size for Aqua and her followers to deliver the final blow. Sadly, the gang ends up getting kicked out of the town as Aqua’s attack has purified all of the Hot Spring water. They have to return to Axel and the story now has to deliver the cliffhanger of their return to their home and the further adventures they have to experience.
What is Konosuba Season 3 Bringing For Us?
The main character Kazuma Sato has filled this isekai anime series with comedy and fantasy. While saving a girl from an oncoming truck, the poor boy Kazuma dies from a heart attack, the most embarrassing way of dying he can think of. In his afterlife, he meets a goddess named Aqua who offers him reincarnation in a parallel world with MMORPG elements.
This is the theme of Konosuba where he sets on adventures and battles monsters in this fantasy world. He dies young in this world and is sent to a world that is more likely a video game for him. Kazuma defeats the Devil king there and lives with the reward money he has received, relaxing and enjoying. The luxurious way of living attracts the Crown Princess Irish, seeking his help in capturing Chris, a chivalrous thief who has sacked high amounts of the empire’s wealth.
Kazuma must fight with the Devil king’s army which turns out to be a total disaster and he was exiled from his trusted ones there. It is now the life of Kazuma to fight and clear his name in the reincarnation world and uncover a troubling royal conspiracy along with his annoying partner, Aqua Goddess there. Konosuba Season 3 is set to display the developments in the romantic relationship developing between Megumin and Kazuma. Woohoo! Finally, fans can see Romcom in this drama after 5 years!
Release Date Announcement & Where to Watch!
Oh no! we would have been extremely happy if we could satisfy your curiosity for Konosuba Season 3 but we have sad news for now. The makers have not declared a specific release date for Konosuba Season 3. Every anime takes almost 12 to 18 months to finally release after the announcement and the director of Konosuba, Takaomi Kanasaki, is currently busy working on Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2. Thus fans have to wait a bit more and it may not be possible for Konosuba Season 3 to release in 2022. The first two seasons of the story were aired in the month of January and it can be a hint that Konosuba Season 3 will be released in January 2023.
