Kelly Bills is a college football coach who has worked for several teams, including Central Washington University and Utah State. He is also a devoted husband and father of three young children. However, his life was turned upside down when his wife, Emily Bills, died suddenly on Sept. 27, 2022. She was only 33 years old.
The Tragic Night
According to The Jimmy Rex Show, Kelly Bills opened up about his wife’s death for the first time in a recent interview. He said that he and Emily were visiting her family at her childhood home when the tragedy happened. They went to bed together with their 3-year-old son, Jace, and fell asleep. The next morning, Emily’s alarm went off at 7:30 a.m., but she did not wake up. Kelly found her unresponsive and knew right away that she was gone.
He said that he performed CPR on her until the paramedics arrived, but none of their interventions worked. He described the experience as “an electrical shock through his body.” He also said that he felt helpless and angry as he watched his wife slip away.
The Cause of Death
Kelly Bills said that it took about three weeks after Emily’s death to find out the cause. He said that doctors discovered several mutations in her DNA that her family was not aware of. These mutations caused heart problems, specifically heart arrhythmia, which is an irregular heartbeat. He said that they had no idea that Emily had this condition, as there were no signs or symptoms.
He also said that Emily was healthy and active, and that she loved hiking, camping, and traveling with him and their children. He said that she was a loving mother and wife, and that she was his best friend and soulmate.
