Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 might might be the Series Finale, ABC Boss CONFIRMS

Introduction

The record-breaking journey of Grey’s Anatomy will be continuing its run in the future with Ellen Pompeo acting as the lady with the torch. ABC has confirmed the renewal of the widely popular medical series of Shondaland for another season. The upcoming installment will be the 19th season of the show. Ellen Pompeo has been assigned once again as the lead character of the show, Meredith Grey. The position of Pompeo has also been promoted from co-executive producer to executive producer for the 19th installment. Another executive producer of the show, Krista Vernoff will be continuing in her position as the showrunner of the series. As we have seen for season 18 of the show which was renewed back in May of 2021, ABC is not announcing Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 as the final season of the show. Neither are they implying it as the end for the character of Pompeo – for now.

Is Season 19 Going to be the Series Finale?

The lead role Pompeo has been expressing her desires recently in the last few years to see the end of the series as soon as possible. Last year she was approached with the 1-year contract for season 18 of the series, which she agreed to. On the other hand, she is planning for some other opportunities after Grey’s Anatomy ends. She is part of the original casting team that contained three members whose contract ended at the end of the 17th installment of the show. The other two actors Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have been included in another multi-year contract that includes Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 in it. 18 seasons and still counting, the series Grey’s Anatomy, made and executively produced by Shonda Rhimes has succeeded to secure its place as the top show of ABC among the viewers with the age limit of 18 to 48 years and has been announced as the no. 1 broadcast show in the key sequence of this season.

The series Grey’s Anatomy has garnered a total of 12.8 million viewership from all around the globe after it was released. The release date was delayed by 35 days across the platforms. On top of that, the show is an important key for the profits that are mainly generated for Disney and is working on the spinoff Station 19 as a universe that is interconnected with the present show. These two projects are often seen as a crossover which helped it to reach the position of the second most popular scripted show right after Grey’s Anatomy. Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 is going to release on ABC on 24th February of this year. The upcoming season will be shown as a crossover with Station 19.

Grey’s Anatomy also stars Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Kelly McCreary as Maggie Pierce, Chris Carmack as Atticus “Link” Lincoln, Jake Borelli as Levi Schmitt, Richard Flood as Cormac Hayes, and Anthony Hill as Winston Ndugu. Vernoff and Rhimes are going to produce the show executively alongside Pompeo, Debbie Allen, and Mark Gordon for Grey’s Anatomy Season 19.
