Beverly Tate, the mother of rapper Snoop Dogg, has passed away at the age of 70. Snoop Dogg confirmed his mom’s death on Sunday, October 24, in a series of heartfelt posts on Instagram. He shared photos of him and his mother, along with captions expressing his gratitude and love for her.
“Mama thank u for having me,” he wrote in one post. “Thank u god for giving me an angel for a mother,” he wrote in another. He also posted a video of him singing a gospel song dedicated to his mom, with the words “I’ll fly away” on the screen.
Snoop Dogg’s fans, friends, and family members flooded his posts with condolences, prayers, and support. Among them were fellow celebrities like Jamie Foxx, Busta Rhymes, Ice Cube, Ciara, and Lizzo.
A Mother’s Struggle
The cause of Beverly Tate’s death has not been revealed yet. However, it is known that she was hospitalized earlier this year for undisclosed reasons. Snoop Dogg asked his followers to pray for his mom in May, saying “I need all my prayer warriors for momma right now please and thank you.”
In July, he shared an update on his mom’s condition, saying that she opened her eyes and let them know that she was still fighting. He posted a photo of him and his brothers visiting their mom in the hospital, with their hands on her forehead. “Happy Sunday me and my brothers went to c mama today and she opened up her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting,” he wrote. “God is good thanks for all the prayers 1 day at a time.”
Snoop Dogg also shared several photos of his mom throughout the year, showing their bond and affection. He often praised her for raising him and his siblings, and for being a strong and loving woman.
A Mother’s Legacy
Beverly Tate was more than just Snoop Dogg’s mother. She was also a singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. She was the founder of Tate Music Group, a record label that supported independent artists. She also released her own gospel album in 2011, titled “In His Presence.”
