In the initial seasons, the story was focused on the mythical ruler of the Vikings, Ragnar Lothbrok and after he was eliminated in the fourth season, the story shifted its focus on the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok. As per the reports, the sixth season is the end of the series. Although the fans didn’t find the show interesting enough after the death of the Viking king Ragnar, the showrunners didn’t decide to cancel the show just because there was a downfall in rating or interest. On the other hand, the shoemaker Michael Hirst said in an interview that the decision of ending the show after season 6 was kind of creative. Back in November of 2019, an official announcement was made about the sequel or spinoff of the Vikings series. The series is entitled ‘Vikings: Valhalla.’ It was also declared that the show is under production by showrunner Hirst and MGM Television. Even though it is a sequel, the story will follow a timeline that will start after 100 years of the main storyline. So, we really cannot call it Vikings Season 7. Now, if we talk about the release date of this spinoff or Vikings Season 7. The shooting of the show was started in the 2nd quarter of 2020. But due to the pandemic situation, the shooting was put on hold. As a result, Vikings Season 7, which was set to release at the end of 2021 got delayed also. Now that the shooting has started again and the production is taken over by Netflix, we can expect it to be released in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2022.
