Louis Farrakhan Jr. Cause of Death: Heart Condition
Louis Farrakhan Jr., the eldest son of the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, passed away on June 1, 2018, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 60 years old. According to the Nation of Islam, he had a heart condition that likely contributed to his death. He died peacefully in his sleep, the group said in a statement.
A Devoted Son and Brother
Louis Farrakhan Jr. was born on November 16, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first of nine children of Louis and Khadijah Farrakhan. He grew up in the Nation of Islam, a religious and political movement that espouses black nationalism and self-reliance. He worked alongside his father in fulfilling the mission of the Nation of Islam, the statement said. He also had a great sense of humor, a brilliant mind, and a compassionate heart, according to those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Lesil Farrakhan, and their five children: Mustapha, Abnar, Louis III, Nasir, and Betsy-Jean. He also leaves behind his eight siblings: Donna, Maria, Betsy, Fatimah, Khallada, Joshua, Abnar, and Mustapha. He was a godfather to many children, a mentor to many young people, and a friend to many people of different backgrounds and faiths.
A Celebration of His Life
The funeral service, or janazah, for Louis Farrakhan Jr. was held on June 8, 2018, at Mosque Maryam in Chicago, the headquarters of the Nation of Islam. Thousands of people attended the service, including family members, friends, dignitaries, and members of the Nation of Islam. The service was also live-streamed on the Nation of Islam’s website and social media platforms.
The service featured tributes, prayers, songs, and speeches from various speakers, including his father, Louis Farrakhan, who delivered the eulogy. He praised his son for his loyalty, courage, and dedication to the cause of the Nation of Islam. He also expressed his gratitude to God for giving him such a wonderful son and asked God to grant him paradise.
The service ended with a procession to the burial site, where Louis Farrakhan Jr. was laid to rest. He was buried next to his mother, Khadijah Farrakhan, who died in 2007.
