A Remarkable Journey
Born on April 14, 1971, in Ginebra, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, Calero’s journey began on the soccer fields. His agile moves and unwavering commitment led him to represent the Colombian national team 50 times between 1995 and 2007. His accolades include two championships—one with Deportivo Cali (1996) and another with Atlético Nacional (1998). In Mexico, he donned the jersey of Club Pachuca, where he captained the team and secured numerous titles.
The Unfathomable Loss
On November 26, 2012, Miguel Calero was hospitalized after suffering from a cerebral thrombosis at his home in Pachuca. Despite medical efforts, a second episode of cerebral thrombosis left him clinically brain dead on December 3, 2012. The irreversible injuries led to his passing, and on December 4, the world bid farewell to this remarkable goalkeeper. His funeral in Pachuca, Hidalgo, honored the legacy he built with CF Pachuca, a club he cherished.
