The Official Statement
According to the Charleston County Coroner, Bobbi Jo O’Neal, the manner and cause of death are pending, as the local police department is investigating the case. No further details have been released to the public as of now. The Flowers family issued a statement to PEOPLE, asking for privacy and remembering Conner as a remarkable young man with a gift of compassion and love for others. They also said that his values were seeded in his faith and in his family.
The Family’s Tribute
Conner’s sister, Olivia, who joined Southern Charm in its seventh season, has not yet spoken publicly about her loss. However, she shared a subtle tribute to her brother on Instagram on February 2, 2023, posting a photo of a sunset with the caption “God’s promise”. Many fans and co-stars offered their condolences and support in the comments section.
Conner’s parents, Garry and Robin, also paid homage to their son in his obituary page on Legacy. They wrote that Conner was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, on February 9, 1990. He was an avid golfer and a full of life and fun-loving friend. He moved to Dallas, Texas, with his family in 2006, where he developed his entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed attending Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks games. Conner’s friend and former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel also mourned his death on Instagram, sharing three photos of them hanging out and chatting at a lounge and a golf course. He wrote that Conner was rare and remarkable, and that he will be terribly missed by those to whom he was so kind and selfless. He also expressed his sincerest sympathies to Conner’s broken-hearted family.
Another friend of Conner’s, Danny Colucci, also seemingly grieved his death by reposting a photo of them on his Instagram Story and wrote “scared to call people brother at this point”.
The Funeral Service
A funeral service for Conner was held on Sunday, February 6, 2023 at the Isle of Palms United Methodist Church. A visitation was held on Saturday at the J. Henry Stuhr Mount Pleasant Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations in Conner’s name to LymeDisease.org or Pet Helpers, a nonprofit pet adoption center and spay/neuter clinic serving communities in Charleston.
The Lyme Disease Awareness
On May 9, 2023, Olivia revealed on Instagram that her brother had been struggling with Lyme disease for years before his death. She posted a photo of him holding a sign that read “I have chronic Lyme disease” and wrote that she wanted to shed light on the disease as May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. She said that Conner had been misdiagnosed for over a decade and that he suffered from various symptoms such as joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and more. She also said that Lyme disease is often overlooked and misunderstood by the medical community and that there is no cure for it. She urged her followers to educate themselves on the disease and to support those who are affected by it.
Olivia did not reveal if Lyme disease was a contributing factor in Conner’s death, but she said that she hoped that sharing his story would help others who are going through similar challenges.
