Witcher Season 2 Release Date; New Teaser & Season 3 Announcement

Netflix hosts an annual event by the name of TUDUM. It is a global event where many stars, producers, and directors are present. They launch exciting new clips, trailers and give fans updates about their favorite shows that they’ve been waiting for. At TUDUM this Saturday, there was a lot of exciting news for fans of The Witcher! New seasons were announced for many popular shows and new trailers were dropped too. One of the shows that made it to this lineup was The Witcher Season 2. The Witcher is a fantasy drama show based on the books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski of the same name. The show follows Geralt, a mutated monster hunter. He is on a mission to rid the world of monsters. But sometimes, humans prove to be more monstrous than any monster can be.

The Witcher first came to Netflix on 20th December 2019 and was a huge hit. The Witcher Season 2 premieres almost exactly 2 years later on December 17th, 2021 all around the world. It will have a total of 8 episodes.

What Are The Episodes Called?

Netflix revealed the titles of 7 out of the 8 episodes from season 2 claiming they were “clues” as to what will happen in the episodes. The titles are-

  1. A Grain of Truth
  2. Kaer Morhen
  3. What is Lost
  4. Redanian Intelligence
  5. Turn Your Back
  6. Dear Friend
  7. Voleth Meir

The title for the 8th episode has been kept under wraps, perhaps so that nothing is spoilt for us in the finale.

The Witcher Season 2 Trailer And First Looks

Netflix has been showering us with Witcher-y content non-stop and we’re not complaining! Here are the trailers, teaser, and first look clips that are out as of now-

Here are the first few looks we’ve got-

The Witcher Season 2 Cast

Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri) will obviously be returning. Anna Shaffer (Triss), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Therica Wilson Read (Sabrina), MyAnna Buring (Tissaia), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Terence Maynard (Artorius), Lilly Cooper (Murta), Lars Mikkelsen (Stregobor), Tom Canton (Filavandrel), Jeremy Crawford (Yarpen Zigrin) and Royce Pierreson (Istredd) will also be returning.

More of Mimi Ndiweni can also be expected.

Season 2 Plot

From what we know, we think season 2 will focus a lot more on the dynamics between Geralt and Cirilla. Geralt will take on the role of a father figure in Cirilla’s life. He will keep her safe by taking the princess to the place he thinks will be the safest for her- Kaer Morhen. Kaer Morhen is Geralt’s hometown and we presume that is what will happen in the second episode of The Witcher season 2 which has the same name.

We could expect to see some queer representation this season.

Season 2 is also going to be more intense, naturally.

The Witcher Season 3 Announcement

Netflix had a lot of surprises for fans at the TUDUM event, one of them being The Witcher getting renewed for season 3 before season 2 had even premiered.

There is no release date or trailer for season 3 yet but we can presume they should be out soon after the release of The Witcher season 2 in December.

More Exciting News- A Prequel Series, Kids’ Show, And An Anime Movie!

Along with the third season, Netflix announced that a second Witcher anime film is in the works.

Besides that, there will be less intense kids and family series too.

There’s also a prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin that will be set 1200 years before the world of The Witcher in the making. It will be a six-part live-action limited series.

Stream The Witcher on Netflix on December 17th, 2021!
