“Shortly after the accident, Anne became unconscious, slipping into a coma and is in critical condition,” spokeswoman Heather Duffy Boylston

The term pulmonary refers to the lungs. Duffy Boylston, Heche's friend and podcast colleague, had no other information.

On August 5, Heche's automobile crashed into a house in the Los Angeles westside neighborhood of Mar Vista. Firefighters rescued Heche, who was alone in the car, from the vehicle when flames ignited.

Heche, an Ohio native, rose to notoriety on the NBC serial opera "Another World" from 1987 to 1991, for which she received a Daytime Emmy Award.

In the late 1990s, Heche's cinematic career took off, with roles opposite stars such as Johnny Depp ("Donnie Brasco") and Harrison Ford ("Six Days, Seven Nights").

From 2001 to 2009, she was married to a cameraman named Coleman Laffoon. Together, they had a son. During her time with actor James Tupper, she had another son.
