Wayne Season 2 Release Date, Renewal Updates, Watch Online

The American television show Wayne is an action-comedy. It debuted on YouTube Premium on January 16, 2019, and starred Mark McKenna and Ciara Bravo. In this work of fiction by Shawn Simmons, Wayne, a young man filled with rage, travels with his girlfriend Del on a bloody road journey to find his father’s stolen Pontiac Trans-Am. Within a few days of its debut, the show had millions of views on YouTube and was an immediate hit. Since the first season of Wayne completed airing, fans have eagerly anticipated the second. Will Wayne Season 2 be released? Let’s review all we’ve learned thus far.

Wayne Season 2

Future of the Wayne series

In order to compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, YouTube had the plan to produce original content. Wayne was a part of that plan. It didn’t work out though, so YouTube decided to stop funding the original series. Wayne thus lost his home.

On November 6, 2020, Wayne Season 1 debuted on Amazon Prime Video. The streamer had been expected to extend the show for a second season, thus the news came as a huge relief to the viewers.

To be clear, there is currently no official announcement on the continuation of the series. Wayne hasn’t been formally renewed for a second season by Amazon yet, which is unfortunate, but it hasn’t been canceled either. But hold onto your hope. In a recent interview, the author and creator Shawn Simmons teased and suggested that he had huge plans for Wayne.

The series’ creators are really eager to begin production on season two. Mark McKenna and Ciara Bravo posted a request on social media when the show first debuted on Amazon, indicating that if there is interest in the streamer, Amazon may bring it back. Showrunner Shawn Simmons also asked for fans.

Wayne Season 2 Release Date

Since the show hasn’t yet been renewed, it’s presently unknown when a potential Season 2 of “Wayne” might air. Viewers will probably have to wait a while before seeing new episodes, even if Amazon buys another season. Since Season 1 was released in 2019, the cast has been working on other projects.

One of Us Is Lying,” an original Peacock series that is currently in pre-production, has Mark McKenna in it. A second season won’t air until the young actor’s schedule is free because “Wayne” wouldn’t exist without Wayne.

If “One of Us Is Lying” wraps this year, McKenna might start filming Season 2 of “Wayne” in the second half of 2021, giving the following season a release date of no later than summer 2022.

That is if Amazon purchases a second season before McKenna and the rest of the cast move on to other roles.

Expected Plot of Season 2

Given that it is based in Brockton, Massachusetts, the story of “Wayne” is one that Simmons can identify with. Because of this, he has already written the Season 2 opener and plotted the rest of the season while he is still awaiting word on whether Amazon wants to continue the program. In an interview with Inverse published in November 2020, the show’s creator discussed what will happen to Wayne and Del going forward.

Saying Wayne was in juvie, Simmons said, “I don’t think it’s a big thing.” Del is in a situation I won’t get into, but the entire season is about Wayne attempting to make things right, trying to win back Del, and trying to give him the peace of mind he deserves.

One fan who wants Season 2 to happen is Mark McKenna. According to Inverse, he told the showrunner that the first episode of Season 2 was some of the best writing he had ever read for the “Wayne” story. If I could, it would just… be… so very nice.

Viewers shouldn’t write off this brave sitcom just yet, even though “Wayne” hasn’t released any brand-new episodes since 2019. “Wayne” is the only show that has a chance of succeeding against all odds and returning after such a long break.

The Anticipated Cast

Nothing can be said about the Season 2 cast because there isn’t much information available just yet. Then, we anticipate that every character will make a comeback in the second season. Almost every celebrity listed here will take on their previous roles.
