Journey of The Boys
The Boys is an American dark superhero satirical drama that has been developed by Eric Kripke for the streaming service Amazon Prime Video. The show is based on the comic book of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series was initially and originally intended to be structured into a feature-length film and the development of the adaptation started to be done in 2008 by Adam McKay.
But the project for making the film was abandoned because of the creative variations faced between the crew and the studios which picked up the film for production which led the project to suffer development hell. The development of the project was converted from a film to a television series in 2016 by Cinemax, owing to the issues faced by the project. And Kripke was recruited for becoming the showrunner of the series.
Then, Amazon was provided the rights for the show as the streaming platform in November 2017. The production was expected to start in Spring 2018. The filming for the show happened in Toronto. The first season of The Boys premiered with 8 episodes on 26th July 2019, the second on 4th September 2020, and the third season on 3rd June 2022. The Boys Season 4 was also announced for renewal in June 2022.
Plot Summary of The Boys
The Boys has been set in a world where there are superpowered individuals known as Supes, who are recognized as heroes by the common public. They work for a powerful corporation called Vought International which markets and pays them.
But the Supes are mostly selfish, egoistic, arrogant, and corrupt outside their heroic personas. The show mainly focuses on two groups: The Seven, the premier superhero team of Vought, and The Boys, the vigilantes who are aiming to bring down Vought and its corrupt superheroes.
The Boys are commanded and led by Billy Butcher, who disdains all the Supes. And on the other hand, the Seven are ordered upon by the egotistical and unstable Homelander. The series shows the clashes between The Boys and the Seven in a dark satirical action.
Is The Boys Season 4 releasing in 2022?
The makers of the series have from the beginning released all three seasons of The Boys very soon after the previous one. The first, second, and third seasons were released at an interval of one year each. And each of the seasons is seeming to become more poignant and provocative with a constant figure on the political and cultural pulse of the real world.
In an interview with Collider, Karl Urban said that the production for The Boys Season 4 begins on the 22nd of August this year. It is good news for the fans. But the bad news or the less exciting news is that since the series has started filming now, we cannot expect it to arrive this year or by the end of this year. The Boys Season 4 might thus be released somewhere around the beginning or mid of 2023.
Is a spin-off series releasing before The Boys Season 4?
The fans should become happier and more excited for another good news. That is, the fans are going to get more adventures with their favorite raunchy superheroes. The spin-off of The Boys named Gen V of Amazon Prime has already begun production. This means that the audience and the fans will be getting more teasers, trailers, posters, and snippets for the series. There might also be some random videos on Vought international in the near future.
The cast of The Boys: Gen V consists of Patrick Schwarzenegger, Shelley Conn, and Sean Patrick Thomas. The show is going to focus on a reality TV/College show produced by Vought International. With all hope, this much information might be enough for keeping the fans happy and excited until The Boys Season 4 hits their screens. So wait and watch till 2023.
