The Life and Career of Tank
Tank was born on May 18, 1966 in Midland, Texas to Charles and Betty Hannon. He graduated from Midland High School in 1984, where he was co-captain of the Bulldog football team. He then attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico and graduated in 1990.
In August 1992, Tank married Rene’ Lynn McLeod. They had three children: Alex Lee, Morgan Rene’, and Brady Edward. After working for his father and with his brother Ted in the family oil business for 15 years, Tank left to pursue his dream of being a personal fitness trainer. His consuming interests in boxing and weight lifting continued until his death.
He was a cast member of the reality show “Black Gold” for three seasons, from 2008 to 2010. The show followed the lives and challenges of oil rig workers in Texas. Tank played the role of a roughneck, a worker who drills oil wells. He was known for his strength, his courage, and his loyalty to his crew.
In March 2010, Tank married Jennifer Kain. Jennifer had triplets from a previous marriage: Hannah Faith, Spencer Montana, and Logan Harrison. The triplets and Brady attended Fannin Elementary together. The three boys played GMFL football together and it was on that football field that Tank and Jennifer found love for a second time.
The Cause of Death of Tank
Tank died on March 30, 2016 in Odessa, Texas. He was 49 years old. The cause of his death is not officially confirmed, but according to some sources, he died of unspecified causes. It is unclear if Tank’s death was the result of the severe wound he sustained from an energy bolt during the filming of “Black Gold” in 2009, or of unrelated causes.
According to the Matrix wiki, Tank survived the energy bolt attack and returned to Zion with Neo and Trinity at the end of The Matrix. However, he is deceased by the time of The Matrix Reloaded, with his place as operator filled by his brother-in-law, Link, who is married to Tank’s sister Zee.
The Legacy of Tank
Tank left behind a loving wife, Jennifer, and seven children: Alex, Morgan, Brady, Hannah, Spencer, Logan, and Brynlee (Alex’s daughter). He also left behind his mother Betty Hannon Koonce, her husband Gearl of Georgetown, TX, brother Ted, wife Susan and sons Sean and Trevor, sister Brenna McCurry, husband Brian and children Cole, Cody and Kelcie.
Tank was remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also remembered by his fans as a brave and loyal roughneck who worked hard to provide for his family and to pursue his dreams.
