Mark Millar and his Millarworld is expanding their base on the streaming platform Netflix and is gaining worldwide attention with its latest anime “Super Crooks”. Based on the same-titled comic book series by writer Mark Millar and artist Leinil Francis Yu, Super Crooks follows the story of Johnny Bolt who hires a team of 8 super-villains to perform one of the biggest and most powerful Heists in Spain. The story was compared with Money Heist and some of the viewers even criticized the anime for being copied but the truth surpassed the hate and the show grabbed highly positive responses, both from its audience and the critics. Currently having a superb rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb with 100% rotten tomatoes, the anime also holds a 7.2 rating on the MyAnimeList. The show released its first season in November 2021 and is yet to announce the renewal of the story for Super Crooks Season 2. What was Super Crooks Season 1 About?
Johnny is a small-time crook who sets his eyes on a big robbery now. He searches and grabs 8 supervillains to join his team and perform the most-powered heist in the history of Spain. With all the preparations done, the team misses no time in executing their plan, robbing $800 million from Matts. Praetorian gets violently beaten down by Gladiator while Kasey is controlling Christopher Matts’ mind. Christopher got terribly late in recognizing what was happening with Matts.
Johnny’s team cleverly uses an outfit for the heist too and that too not their original one. Johnny’s side wore the replicas of the costumes that Salamander’s members were using. Hence the poor Salamander’s side gets completely killed by Matt. Matt by the end kept on thinking that Salamander’s team is responsible for robbing him and Johnny and the supervillains escape smoothly. Concluding the season with a romantic sequence, Johnny proposes to Kasey. A heist and a love story established with perfection.

Super Crooks is a superhero heist thriller anime created by Mark Millar who has his own Millarworld of stories. BONES, the Studio behind My Hero Academia has animated this show too while the perfect direction is done by Motonobu Hori. The anime’s theme music given by Towa Tei became a vibe. He gave the opening theme “Alpha” along with Taprikk Sweezee and the ending theme “Sugar” with UA.

When Will the Show Return With Season 2? Plot Theories
Super Crooks Season 2 has not been confirmed by the show makers on Netflix yet. After the premiere of the first season on 25 November 2021, Netflix is taking considerably more amount of time in announcing the renewal of the anime for a new season. Super Crooks is set in the same universe as Jupiter‘s Legacy which is a live-action series. As season one has covered up almost the entire plot of the comic books, Super Crooks Season 2 may have a direct connection to the plot of Jupiter‘s Legacy and will provide plenty of storylines to discover.
The anime debuted with 13 episodes on Netflix in 2021, after more than two years of its announcement in March 2019. The delay was caused by the ongoing Covid pandemic but situations are much better now. If Netflix even takes one year gap to release a new season, we may expect Super Crooks Season 2 to release any time in 2023, if the show gets an announcement by the end of this year. We will bring you every possible update as soon as possible.
Continuing the previous plot, Season 2 may show that Matts will surely get to know the true identity of the robbers and begin his chase after Johnny and his team. Brainwave or even the Utopian himself can have their attention dragged towards the Crooks. There will be a new antagonist for Super Crooks Season 2 who will be more villainous than others but the group will stick together and solve these issues with their teamwork. Let’s hope the Millarworld show gets a renewal for a second season soon.
