Star Wars Visions Season 2 Release Date in 2023 Confirmed

Star Wars Celebration has come forward with many revelations over the past few years. It is one of the most followed franchises among the people. One of the most matchless projects which have come out of Star Wars in recent years was Star Wars Visions. It had congregated the globally most celebrated anime studios which prepared all-new stories in the franchise. In this article, we shall discuss Star Wars Visions Season 2.

This new approach in the Star War Universe was applaudable. Star Wars Visions debuted in September 2021 on Disney+. It brought with it a new take on creativity, animation, and characters. Part 1 of the series featured a well-recognized voice cast such as Neil Patrick Harris, Alison Brie, George Takei, and Temuera Morrison.

Star Wars: Visions Season 2

Plot Summary of Star Wars Visions

One of the stories explores a master and his novice who head to a distant planet. There they come along a face-off with a strong and powerful Dark Side User. The second story witnesses an upbeat droid vision of having journeys and adventures with a Lightsaber. The third story sees a gang of “Masterless Jedi”, who congregate after many, many years without any sabers in sight.

Other alternate stories involve a lost and wandering warrior who  apparently hunts down Sith from one planet to the other, Force-sensitive battling siblings and a jaded ex-Jedi who has forced his way back into helping other people after getting sick of his life.

How was Star Wars Visions different from the rest of the franchise?

In Star Wars Visions, a distant Galaxy, which might not have been witnessed before in any series or movie was explored. Various artists and storytellers crafted 9 original tales from all across the world and added them to the Star Wars mythos. Every episode of the series narrated stories from across the Galaxy and the long history of the expandable universe.

The studios which were involved in the series were Science Saru (Devilman Crybaby), Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill), Kamikaze Douga (Openings for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss), Studio Colorado (A Whisker Away), Production IG (Haikyu) and Geno Studio (Golden Kamuy).

Has Star Wars Visions been renewed for a Season 2?

To much amazement, Disney has revealed that the very much loved Star Wars Visions has been renewed for a Second Season. It was revealed on the last day of Star Wars Celebration. This was later confirmed by the official Twitter account of Star Wars.

Only this much information has yet been revealed by the streaming service as well as the makers. But we are expecting that Star Wars Visions Season 2 will be going beyond the limits of anime series and will be using many animation styles from across the world. There will be animations coming from Japan as well as other countries like The US, the UK, South Africa, India, Chile, Spain, and France.

The announcement about the renewal of Star Wars Visions Season 2 was done at the “A Look Back at Star Wars Visions” panel, which was held at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California.

It is not known whether any of the studios which were a part of the initial volume would be returning or any of the stories which got featured in the first volume. Although, there were many such episodes which has enough set-up like “The Ninth Jedi and “The Twins”, for having an easy spin-off into their own series.

We will have to sit back and wait to see if any of them get a follow-up. But we are very sure of one thing which is many new stories would be explored with Star Wars Visions Season 2, and each will have its own unique voice and style which will come from its various creators.

Planning of the creators of Season 2

Executive producer James Waugh explained in a recent interview with CBR how he has no such agenda of implanting Visions as a part of the huge Star Wars timeline. But it is highly possible that these stories will be impacting future stories and storytellers. In the interview, he said:

“That’s right, every piece of Star Wars influences future Star Wars storytellers in some form or other. So are there plans to integrate Visions into the timeline saga storytelling? Not currently, but I have no doubt that will see things that were in Visions become part of the fabric of Star Wars over the next decades.”

This makes it pretty clear that we will be exploring many new elements in Star Wars Visions Season 2.
