Scott Fine, a former member of the Band of Oz, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his residence in Little River, SC. He was 40 years old. His death shocked and saddened his family, friends, and fans, who remembered him as a talented musician and entertainer.
A Passion for Music
Scott Fine was born in Alamance County, NC, and was the son of the late Paul Daniel Fine and Christine Fine, who survives him. He had a passion for music from a young age and started playing with The Classics, a local band, when he was 15. He later joined The Attractions, another popular beach music group, and performed with them for several years.
In 2014, he became a member of the Band of Oz, one of the most successful and influential bands in the beach music industry. He was the lead vocalist and also played the trumpet and the keyboard. He was known for his powerful voice, charismatic stage presence, and versatile musical skills. He sang many of the band’s hits, such as “Shama Lama Ding Dong”, “Ocean Boulevard”, and “Over the Rainbow”.
He also formed his own band, The Young Guns, in 2018, and continued to perform with them until his death. He loved cooking and catering for others, and often hosted parties and events for his friends and fellow musicians.
A Legacy of Love
Scott Fine was married to Cody Fine, who survives him, and they lived in Little River, SC. He was a loving husband, son, brother, and friend, who touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He was also a devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Tar Heels.
He was well respected and admired in the beach music community, and received many awards and honors for his musical achievements. He was inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame in 2016, and won the Carolina Beach Music Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
His funeral service was held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery in Graham, NC. His family and friends gathered to pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy. Many of his fellow beach music artists also paid tribute to him on social media and dedicated songs to him at their shows.
Scott Fine’s cause of death has not been made public, but his family has requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association in his memory. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, and his music will live on in the hearts of his fans.
