McMafia is a British crime drama that entails the journey of Alex Godman who leads a well-settled life until a murder forces him to get into the underworld life of Mafias, a place he has been trying hard to get away from. McMafia renewed for another season?
James Norton starter McMafia premiered on 1 January 2018. The series was well-received by the audience and managed to create its fanbase. Since the series went off-air fans have been anticipating the renewal of McMafia Season 2. However, there have been no confirmed signs of renewal of the series by the makers as of now. In March 2022, there was news circulating that the show has been canceled and the fans will not get to see McMafia Season 2. This news was rather put to an end by the writer and executive producer of the show Misha Glenny. She took to the social media platform, Twitter, and denied any such reports.
This instilled a ray of hope among the show’s arduous fans who have been waiting for a long time for an official announcement from the makers regarding the series’ renewal. Even though Glenny had denied the reports of cancellation but nothing has been said about the renewal of McMafia Season 2. We do hope that the makers of the show put an end to the long wait with some news about the series renewal soon.
The expected Release Date of McMafia Season 2.
The show premiered for the first time on January 1, 2018, and it was broadcasted till February 11, 2018. It has been quite a long time since the series first hit our screens. And even though there has been no indication of the series renewal as of now but Glenny’s denial did give us hope that the show might return with McMafia Season 2.
To claim anything about the release date would be very uncertain at this point but we feel that if the series has not been canceled as generously said by Glenny there is a possibility that the writers might be working on the storyline of McMafia Season 2. Well, that’s just our point of view and we hope we are right on this one. It has been a long wait since 2018 and if the series is getting renewed there is a possibility that it might hit our screens by the end of 2023 or early 2024. This much time is bound to be required by the makers and the production house.
How Many Episodes are expected in Season 2?
The underworld crime drama released 8 episodes in its first installment premiered on BBC One on 1 January 2018 in the United Kingdom while in the United States of America it was released on 26 February 2018 on AMC. If the same pattern is followed then it is expected that the fans will get to see the same no. of episodes in McMafia Season 2 as well.
It however cannot be said with surety as the no. of episodes does depend on how the storyline is carried forward and how many episodes the streaming channel is willing to release. The series is co-produced by BBC, AMC Networks, and Cuba Pictures.
