Made in Abyss was successful by releasing Season 1 as people loved the series and now, it is all set to release Made in Abyss Season 2. The show will probably be returning with Season 2 later this summer. It has not really set an official release date for the renewal but has hinted that it will surely come in 2022.
Recap of Made in Abyss Season 1
Based on a successful Manga Comic, Made in Abyss known as Meido in Ebisu in Japan is a fabulous anime series with a lot of fun and adventure. It contains adventurous and fantasy elements which are ideal for an Anime and are loved by Anime fans. The lead character of this anime series is Riko. She is the daughter of the missing White Whistle Lyza who is The Annihilator.
The story focuses on Riko. She goes into the depths of the Abyss where she lives for searching for her missing mother. She is very determined and has made her mission to find her mother when she receives a message from her dead-assumed mother that she is alive. She journeys into the Abyss along with her robot friend Reg. It is revealed that the Abyss is very much more dangerous than interpreted as it was first assumed.
Abyss is full of monsters, dangerous and ravenous creatures, and many more things that get unveiled eventually throughout the first season. Riko and Reg also come across information about the Abyss that it also harbors a Curse which impacts all the traveling into its depths. The curse ensures that if a person once enters inside, they won’t come out back the same as when they entered.
The story of Made in Abyss initiates seeming pretty light-hearted, calm, and peaceful like a fantasy story. But gradually, challenges keep coming in the path of Riko with darker plot lines. Many theories are revealed about the place that how twisted and entwined the place really is. The thing fans love the most about this series is the twist of events when Riko and Reg enter the depths of Abyss.
The place is totally unknown and very mysterious and harmful to both Riko and Reg which makes the viewers kept invested in the series throughout that what will happen next to both of them. What adventure are they going to face next in Made in Abyss Season 2? The twists make the animated series much more reliable and realistic.
The fans get emotionally attached to Riko and Reg
Since Made in Abyss consists of a relatively small cast than the other anime shows, the fans are simply and emotionally attached to the main character Riko and the supporting character Reg, who are putting great efforts into finding Riko’s mother. This makes them hateful of the events and dark twists that hinder and challenge Riko in her struggle.
The fabulous characters and the design of the plot attract the viewers the most. It makes them feel that the story is ascending in a single direction but then pivots into another new direction every time they start thinking so.
Will season 3 also be released after Made in Abyss Season 2 is released? That will be determined after we see the second season. The first season of Made in Abyss contained 13 episodes which premiered in July 2017 in Japan. Since that time, the series has created a huge fan base who are eagerly waiting for the release of Made in Abyss Season 2.
According to some reports, the later seasons depend on two things. The first one will be the source material and the second one will be how much benefit was seen in the previous season. For the first season of Made in Abyss, the source material was Manga. There are 10 volumes of Made in Abyss Manga as of December 2021. The Manga is still being worked on because the vision for the ending is not right now in the mind of the writers.
Season 1 of Made in Abyss used a total of 4 volumes for creating a series. The 5th volume was used in the movie Made in Abyss the movie: Dawn of the Deep Soul. It is kind of a sequel to the anime’s first season. So we can expect that the remaining volumes, that is 6 to 9 will be used by Made in Abyss Season 2. And if the Manga writer decided to write more volumes, then it might be possible that a Season 3 also adopts those volumes.
