Who was Kajavia Globe?
Kajavia Globe was a 24-year-old Detroit woman who went missing on December 11, 2023. She was last seen leaving her work in the area of McNichols Road and the Southfield Freeway, driving a gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Her family reported her disappearance to the police and launched a social media campaign to find her.
How was her body found?
Three days after she vanished, her body was found in a trash container behind a vacant house on the 18500 block of Fielding Street on Detroit’s west side, near 7 Mile Road and Evergreen. Her car was also found abandoned near Chatham and Fenkell, with evidence of foul play inside. Police said they were investigating her death as a homicide.
What was the cause of death?
Despite the suspicion of murder, the cause of death of Kajavia Globe remains a mystery. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office said that an autopsy and a toxicology screening failed to reveal how she died. The official manner of death was ruled indeterminate, which happens in about 5% of the cases that come to the office. The death was still classified as a homicide, based on the circumstances and the evidence.
Who was the suspect?
The most chilling clue in the case was a surveillance video that showed someone in a skeleton mask using Kajavia Globe’s bank card to withdraw cash at a drive-through ATM at 7 Mile Road and Telegraph, on the same day she disappeared. The person was driving her car and wearing her clothes. Police did not release any other details or description of the suspect.
What happened to the case?
In February 2024, police arrested and charged Maxwell Brack, the 24-year-old boyfriend of Kajavia Globe, with open murder. He was arraigned in Romulus’ 34th District Court and remanded to jail without bond. He faced a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole. However, the case was never resolved, as Brack was found dead in his cell in March 2024, in an apparent suicide. The motive and the evidence against him were never disclosed to the public.
Why is this case important?
