On the show Finding Your Roots, Lithgow discovered that he is a descendant of eight Mayflower passengers, including colonial governor William Bradford.  Bradford was also an ancestor of Pitt, as well as other famous people like Marilyn Monroe, Clint Eastwood, and Barack Obama.
