Although Eternals has yet to be released in theatres throughout the world, the LA premiere has revealed a few secrets that Marvel had previously kept hidden. The premiere not only introduced a new squad of MCU superheroes but also revealed the identity of a new cast member. Harry Styles of Watermelon Sugar is a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Following Monday’s world premiere of Eternals, a big actor has been recruited to the MCU in an intriguing role, as reported on social media.
The former One Direction member has pursued an acting career, and rumours have circulated that he will play Eros in Eternals. Harry Styles could be cast as Eros, Thanos’ brother, in the upcoming Marvel film Eternals.
The casting reveal in the post-credits scene of Marvel’s Eternals has been published online just hours after the world premiere. Eternals, the latest film from Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be released in theatres in just over two weeks. It stars Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Don Lee, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan, and Kit Harington, and is directed by recent Oscar winner Chloé Zhao.
The Eternals are a group of cosmic creatures with amazing talents who have been tasked with protecting humanity from the Deviants in the Marvel universe.
Eternals had their world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night. Though reviews are still being held under wraps for the next week, early reactions to Eternals have surfaced online, and they’re mostly positive. Many people praised the film’s epic scope, insisting that it is unlike any other Marvel endeavour. The Eternals post-credits scenes are also considered to be worth seeing, however one major surprise has already been revealed.
Following the Eternals premiere, Variety journalist Matt Donnelly rushed to social media to reveal that Harry Styles has been cast in the MCU as Eros, Thanos’ brother. Nothing further regarding his role or the post-credits scene has been released. However, one may anticipate that Styles will continue to play a key part in the MCU in the future.
For a long time, Styles has been linked to the role of Eros, but Marvel has stayed mum on the subject. The musician made his feature film debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, and he’ll be seen in two highly anticipated films next year: Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling and Emma Corrin’s My Policeman.
Styles is on his way to becoming a true cinematic star, with a Marvel role to go along with his past award-winning performances.
In the comics, Eros, sometimes known as Starfox, is generally portrayed as the polar antithesis of his power-hungry brother Thanos. He shares some of the Eternals’ talents and has served on both that squad and the Avengers. It’ll be fascinating to watch how the MCU incorporates Eros into future films, especially now that Thanos has been defeated.
As is customary for Marvel films, the post-credits scenes only tease at what’s to come, so don’t expect to see much of Styles’ Starfox in Eternals.
