What might be the reason behind the Cancelation of Gotham Season 6?

The Season 5 of Gotham had an average of 0.63 rating in the demographic of 18-49. It got 2.26 million views. That means compared to the fourth season, the ratings were down by 18% and views were down by 12%.

Thus we can assume that the series although gained so much popularity and views overall, was not able to gain that much fame in the later seasons. This might be considered as the reason for the cancelation of Gotham Season 6.
