The sequel already has another confirmed Monster
Even though the sequel of Godzilla vs Kong has been announced recently, the makers have already confirmed one other monster for the movie. After many months of hiking contemplation, it is no more hidden from us that Legendary Pictures is creating at least one more monster in the movie.
It is very weird that before the announcement of the movie, it has been affirmed that the sequel will be based on the Titans of the MonsterVerse. The Godzilla fandom has nicknamed the monster “Titanus Doug”. The smiling Hollow Earth lizard which appeared in a single shot in Godzilla vs Kong snacking on some crabs has now been collected for a much larger role in the future of MonsterVerse.
Wingard in a Reddit AMA, which was held about a year ago, said that:
“You bet your ass Titanus Doug is making a return”
The director also fixated that Doug “has a lot more to give” in the MonsterVerse and conveyed hope that Legendary Pictures would be making his nickname canon. Adam’s reassurances for the Hollow Earth Lizard gave the belief that in one way or the other, the two are a package deal for the sequel of Godzilla vs Kong.
What are the possibilities in Godzilla vs Kong 2?
The movie could be focusing on a rematch between two alpha Titans. Since the fight has already been finished, the idea of the two titans fighting again may result in lack of excitement. But the conclusion of Godzilla and Kong made a possibility for their re-match and the re-match to be evidently different from what was shown before.
If Kong proves his alpha status to the Hollow Earth Titans, he could have a groupie of his own which would be assisting him in opposing Godzilla in a massive monster battle. If this were about to happen, then the MonsterVerse could still consist of a Titan War, keeping Godzilla and Kong as each other’s enemies once more.
Also, Godzilla could bring Rodan and King of the Monsters’ original Titans out of hibernation to battle Kong and his newly discovered allies.
Godzilla vs Kong 2 Release Date
Even though the sequel has not been entitled to a name yet, the release for the sequel has been scheduled for the year 2024. On 30th June 2022, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. declared and revealed that the date of release of Godzilla vs Kong 2 will be 15th March 2024 globally.
Both the Hollywood studios have now unveiled the official release date and we have to wait till 2024 for the movie to hit the big screen. But there has been no word from them if the old cast of Godzilla vs Kong would be returning for the sequel or not.
Synopsis of Godzilla vs Kong 2
Although nothing is actually known about Godzilla vs Kong’s storyline, the director had previously stated something we could expect from the movie:
“The clear starting point we teed up (in Godzilla vs. Kong), exploring Hollow Earth, I think there is a lot more to do there. This is a pre-history of Planet Earth, where all the titans come from. We tee up some mystery in this film, things I want to see resolved and explored and pushed to the next level.”
Now we just have to witness the movie for knowing what’s actually kept in it for us.
