At around 9:15 pm IST on 4th October 2021 i.e. tonight, all the services by Facebook Inc. got down and the reason for this outage is still unknown.
The Company itself and all the users of Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp are using Twitter to convey their feelings about this outage and many Celebrities join them as well. The outage is still unsolved and people all over the world are unable to use services from Facebook which includes the Facebook app, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger.

As we all know that Facebook bought Whatsapp in 2014 and since then both the companies have run on the same servers worldwide so if any one of the services provided by Facebook like Instagram or WhatsApp remains down, all the services go down and that is a big downside of these services.
“Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can,” a message on the Facebook website said.
The message suggested a Domain Name System (DNS) error. DNS allows web addresses to take users to their destinations. A similar issue at the cloud-based company Akamai Technologies Inc took down multiple websites in July 2021.
We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

The Users are outraged on Twitter with the hashtag Whatsapp Down and at this moment Delete Facebook is trending on Twitter. This is arguable the longest-running outage the social media giant has ever faced and users are not very happy because Whatsapp is a service that is used by billions of people around the world and Whatsapp being down is a huge issue and even where Whatsapp has ensured that they are looking into fixing the issue as soon as possible, but, the issue doesn’t seem to get fixed till now. So, how much more time for Whatsapp and other Facebook services to get restored? the answer is that we don’t know yet. But we hope that the issue gets sorted as soon as possible.
This Is What Actually Happened
Confirmed: The DNS records that tell systems how to find https://t.co/qHzVq2Mr4E or https://t.co/JoIPxXI9GI got withdrawn this morning from the global routing tables. Can you imagine working at FB right now, when your email no longer works & all your internal FB-based tools fail?
