Doctor Who is a British sci-fi TV show created by C E Webber, Sydney Newman, and Donald Wilson. It is science fiction, adventure, and drama series with 12 seasons that started airing in 1963 making it one of the longest airing TV shows in British history. It was then revived in 2005 after a short gap. It has maintained a rating of 8.6/10 on IMDb. The most recent season premiered on 1st Jan 2020 and ended on 1st March 2020.
Doctor Who Season 13 was announced back in November 2019. It will finally be releasing later this year. Filming started in 2020 and just recently wrapped up in August 2021. However, we do not have an official release date yet. If all goes to plan we should be able to watch it by the end of this year. If not, latest by early 2022.
The season will consist of 6 episodes and will air on BBC One.
PREMISE OF THE SHOW
Doctor Who follows the adventures of a time lord- an extraterrestrial belonging to an ancient race of people who have command over time travel technology. What’s unique about them is that they appear to be human. The “Doctor”, who is the main character of the series, travels through time and space and explores the universe in the TARDIS, his spaceship that looks like a British police box and was a common sighting in Great Britain back in 1963 when the show aired for the first time. The Doctor and his companions together fight various opponents and evils on their travels to save people and civilization. They travel through space and time which leads to many complications and finally ties up in one single narrative.

CAST
Since the show has had 13 seasons, the lead character of the “doctor” changes often. So do the other characters.
In season 12 that premiered this year, Jodie Whittaker played The Doctor’s role. Some other actors who have played the Doctor are- Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston, Paul McGann, Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Tom Baker, John Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, and William Hartnell.
Other actors who feature are- Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandeep Gill, John Bishop, Jacob Andersen, Tanya Fear, Rudolph Walker, Bob Anderson, Karl Collins, Pearl Mackie, Nicholas Briggs, David Tennant, Jon Davey, Jenna Coleman, Paul Kasey, Karen Gillian, Billie Piper, Arthur Darvill, Simon Carew, Freema Agyeman, and Ruari Mears.
The production team includes Chris Chibnall and Matt Strevens as of 2021. This is supposed to be Chris Chibnall’s third and final season as a part of the Doctor Who crew.
The six episodes of Doctor Who season 13 were directed by Jamie Magnus Stone and Azhur Saleem.
DOCTOR WHO SEASON 13 TEASER
The makers surprised fans with a teaser for season 13 a few days ago. Although it did not give fans much of a clue as to what the plot is going to be, it definitely got them hyped up and ready for a banger of a season!
