Dexter: New Blood Release Date; How Is It Different From The Original Show?

When and Where Can You Watch Dexter: New Blood?

Dexter” has been off the air since 2013, but on November 7, 2021, at 9 p.m. ET, “Dexter: New Blood” will reintroduce the serial killer to Showtime. After that, episodes will air weekly on Showtime every Sunday until all ten episodes have aired.

If you want to catch up on “Dexter,” Showtime has the first three episodes available on YouTube. Otherwise, all eight seasons are accessible on Amazon Prime, and anyone with a Showtime membership, whether cable or streaming, can watch them.

What exactly is Dexter: New Blood?

“Dexter: New Blood” is a 10-episode limited series resurrection of the Emmy-winning Showtime series “Dexter.” The first series recounted the narrative of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter pattern analyzer for the Miami Metro Police Department who also works as a serial murderer in his spare time. Dexter, on the other hand, does not simply murder someone.

He employs his nefarious impulses to assassinate criminals who have slipped through the legal system’s holes. Throughout the series, he used his police connections to track down other serial killers who needed to be taught a lesson.

Dexter’s sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), who is also a cop, was unaware of his murderous tendencies, which he refers to as his Dark Passenger. Over the years, his secret life was threatened countless times before all hell broke loose.

The resurrection begins 10 years after the events of the first series after Dexter faked his death and appeared to leave his Dark Passenger, as well as his young son Harrison, behind.

The cast of Dexter: New Blood

Michael C. Hall, an Emmy winner, will reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, who has acquired the name of Jim Lindsay. But he isn’t the only original cast member who has returned.

Jennifer Carpenter reprises her role as Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister. Since Debra died in the final season of “Dexter,” this is an intriguing twist. Debra, on the other hand, isn’t magically revived. Instead, she’s replaced Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry Morgan, who used to be a physical incarnation of Dexter’s Dark Passenger inner-monologue voice. As a result, Debra will now be the one to counsel Dexter on his latest serial killer problems.

John Lithgow plays Arthur Mitchell, a.k.a. The Trinity Killer is scheduled to return who killed Dexter’s wife Rita Bennett (Julie Benz), who was murdered and left in a bathtub to soak in her own blood.

Dexter and Rita’s then-toddler son Harrison was also left in the toilet, mimicking Dexter’s own childhood tragedy when his mother was slain in front of him. So our working assumption is that The Trinity Killer appears as a Dark Passenger that Harrison (played by Jack Alcott) displays now that he’s a teen, but that’s just guesswork on our part.

New characters join the cast of “Dexter: New Blood,” including Clancy Brown (“The Shawshank Redemption”), who plays Kurt Caldwell, the new villain.
