From the beginning to the end, Castlevania has been an incredible journey. For the past five years, the dark and violent anime series has been ruling our hearts. It has been a benchmark for Netflix’s Original Anime Content and has not failed in becoming a fan favorite. Castlevania Season 4 dropped on Netflix in 2021 and had the objective of rounding off the stories of Trev0r Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard Tepes in a different style. Although, Season 4 of Castlevania actually stepped up in level and raised the stakes set by the previous journeys & adventures. Especially those which concerned the animation and visual effects, because they were exceptional in every episode and each them. In this article, we shall discuss Castlevania Season 5.
Netflix is now deciding on perhaps closing the Castlevania franchise after the four small seasons. There were just 10 episodes in the 4th season of Castlevania. The last episode “It’s been a Strange Ride” might have given the anime series a proper, definitive conclusion. This means that Castlevania Season 5 would not be returning on Netflix. But before the fans start becoming miserable about this news, we also have good news for you all below in the article. Let’s first see what happened in the Season 4 of Castlevania.
Castlevania Season 4 Synopsis
The anime Castlevania began with Four Episodes. And now, it has taken over pop culture and insured its position as one of Netflix’s patent and tentpole anime series. It is one of the first Netflix Original Animations. The anime is based on Konami’s franchise of the same name and is animated by Powerhouse.
The fourth season of Castlevania picks up exactly where the third season ended. Trevor and Sypha were working their way for fighting the vampires and magic-users determined in bringing Dracula back to life. The Season 4 of Castlevania underwent a lot of weight built-up from the previous season.
Since the fourth season had to worry about concluding the series in a way that satisfies the fans. It also had to convey on the character moments and huge wars and violence from Season 3. And too much satisfaction, it conveys.
In Season 4, Wallachia crumpled into the chaos as the conflicts began to clash. While some pushed for control such as the vampire court in Styria, other more nefarious entities looked to resurrect Dracula. Carmilla finally looked into enacting her plans for dominating the world through Hector’s night creatures, and Isaac advanced on his new goal: Conquest.
It was these two sides that push Castlevania Season 4. The first was a conquest where two people, Carmilla and Isaac, used their pain and trauma to propel themselves to power. They met and battled. The second was keeping Dracula dead, which brought Trevor and Sypha into a confrontation with new vamps, beasts, and even new allies.
There have been so many things woven together, grown, and concluded in this season. It is surprising that the series was able to give the same emotional storytelling feeling to our primary and favorite trio: Alucard, Trevor, and Sypha. In one word, Masterpiece.
The Good News for Castlevania Fans
We introduced the article with Bad News about the ultimate ending of Castlevania. But the good news is that Castlevania creators are making a spin-off series instead of Castlevania Season 5 that would revolve in the same universe.
When it was confirmed in April 2021, via Deadline, that season 4 of Castlevania will be the last season in the original storyline, the fans were distorted. But now, a spin-off is on its way to the Castlevania fans in the Castlevania Universe. The name of the spun-off is Castlevania: Nocturne. We are going to get a new cast set in the Castlevania universe.
The spin-off series will be telling the story of Richter Belmont and Maria Renard during the French Revolution. Netflix captioned via YouTube that:
“Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.”
Much more likely, the spin-off of Castlevania would be going back to the early days and will chart the lifetimes of the Belmont clan. The first season of Castlevania started with Trevor being the last of his surname and the once-beloved family of monster hunters being abandoned by society. Another character we might be seeing in the spin-off would be Dracula. It has a quite linear pattern of Dracula trying to destroy the human race.
