Camouflage, whose real name was Jason Johnson, was a rapper from Savannah, Georgia, who rose to fame with his songs “Cut Friends” and “Laying My Stunt Down”. He released his final album Keepin It Real in 2002
On May 19, 2003, Camouflage was shot and killed outside of Pure Pain Records recording studio, while he was walking with his toddler son. He was 21 years old
No one has been arrested or charged for his murder, which remains unsolved to this day
Camouflage had a history of legal troubles and was considered a suspect in another homicide case in 2000, but was never indicted by a grand jury
Camouflage’s legacy lives on through his music, his family, and his fans. His daughter, Flau’jae, followed his footsteps and became a rapper, competing in The Rap Game and America’s Got Talent. She also played basketball at Louisiana State University and signed a record deal with Roc Nation
Camouflage was the subject of a documentary film by Lamia Lazrak, which premiered at the Savannah Film Festival in 2016 and won a Red Dot Design Award. The film featured interviews with his mother, his daughter, his producers, and rapper Boosie Badazz
