Netflix has released its full list of TV shows and movies coming out in September and Big Mouth season 5 did not make the list. Yes, this is disappointing but we now look forward to seeing it release in October along with the other super exciting shows that are set to premiere next month!
‘Big Mouth‘ is one of Netflix’s top TV shows and arguably the best adult animation on the OTT website. Another great adult animation is ‘Bojack Horseman’ so if you’re a fan of Big Mouth you should definitely check that out. Big Mouth also won an Emmy award recently for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance.
Then why isn’t Big Mouth Season 5 on Netflix yet? Well, the most obvious reason is the pandemic. With shows getting pushed, shelved, and delayed all through last year and the start of this year, it’s not surprising that we haven’t seen any news on a fifth season just yet.
Big Mouth Release Date Rumors And Trailer
The streaming giant has loyally provided fans with a new series per year since its 2017 birth so we’re now hoping Big Mouth season 5 will come out before the end of 2021 at least since a cartoon show like this one doesn’t require cast members to be in close proximity or onset.
Sadly, there’s no trailer out for season 5 either as yet but it can be expected soon. On Sept. 25, Netflix is having a virtual global fan event called TUDUM, where over 70 Netflix original series are featured. At this event, fans can expect trailers, first looks at some of Netflix’s top shows and movies, interactive panels, and conversations with some of the cast members of the series featured in the lineup, and of course, fan-favorite Big Mouth made it to the lineup! Exciting stuff coming up.
Big Mouth Cast
Thankfully, we didn’t have to digest any teary deaths in season four, so we expect to see all the main cast in season five. We hope they add some guest stars to spice things up a bit. For now, the main cast includes:
- Nick Birch (along with Maury, Coach Steve, Lola, and Rick) played by Nick Kroll
- Andrew Glouberman (and Grandpa Andrew) played by John Mulaney
- Jessi Glaser played by Jessi Klein
- Jay B (along with Socrates and Guy B) played by Jason Mantzoukas
- Missy played by Ayo Edebiri
- Devon played by Jak Knight
- Connie (along with Diane, Bath Mat, Ghost of Elizabeth Taylor, Ghost of Whiney Houston) played by Maya Rudolph
- Matthew is played by Andrew Rannells.
Nick Kroll is also one of the creators of the show along with Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.
Big Mouth Season 5 Plot
The sky’s the limit with animated shows like this one but things are kept relatively grounded and haven’t gone too overboard which is the beauty of this show. Romances have been the main plots so far and the simplicity is what keeps fans wanting more. It will be interesting to see how relationships change this season.
In season 4, Matthew came out as gay, a fact his mother found difficult to accept. Big Mouth season 5 will definitely continue the conversations surrounding this difficult and sensitive subject.
