Not much is known regarding the details of the plot but we know that Oppenheimer is based on the true-life story of an atomic scientist and theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer who played a vital role in the development of the atomic bomb.

Who Was J. Robert Oppenheimer?
American theoretical physicist and “the father of the Atomic bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer was one of the scientists to discover and build the world’s first atomic bomb.
He was a part of the Manhattan Project – the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons. Oppenheimer was among those who observed the Trinity test in New Mexico, where the first atomic bomb was successfully detonated on July 16th, 1945.
J Robert Oppenheimer was a scholar from Harvard.
He died on February 18th, 1967, aged 62 in Princeton, New Jersey, U.S.
